Pupils from schools who currently take part in the Walk Once a Week (WoW) scheme in the Bolton area were invited down to the event as a reward for all the hard work they have been doing raising awareness of the benefits of walking in their schools.
The event began with a fun football coaching session focussing on dribbling with Bolton Wanderers Community Trust coaches.

This was followed by a “Walk Smart” road safety quiz hosted by Living Streets where pupils worked in teams to solve road safety problems along with Walk to School's mascot Strider. The afternoon continued with an all access Stadium tour, including the home side's dressing room where Bolton Wanderers Mascot Lofty the Lion was waiting to accompany the pupils round the rest of the Reebok Stadium.

Ann-Marie Banks, WoW Champion at Queensbridge Primary School, commented, “The children have really enjoyed today and it was nice to meet other schools and find out what they do for WoW."

The day was a great success providing Bolton Wanderers Community Trust the opportunity to reward the children who have been promoting the Walk Once A Week Campaign within their schools over the last year. The event also helped Living Streets increase pupil's knowledge of road safety to ensure our children are safer on the roads and raise greater awareness of the multiple benefits of getting out in the community and becoming more active.
