The competition was open to Premier League 4Sport participants with the age range of 11-16 and was the first Premier League 4Sport competitions that the North West had experienced.  Six football clubs entered the finals with 25 boys and 25 girls that went head to head in testing competition.

The young participants from Smithills High School have been attending their Premier League 4Sport satellite club for the past 13 month and week by week they have been developing their badminton skills as well as turning up for the enjoyment/social factor.  The young pupils that represented Bolton Wanderers were selected by merit or commitment to the sport.

The Wanderers team, did exceptionally well and as they went head to head against stiff competitors from the likes of Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers. The youngsters came out with a winning trophy for ‘fair play’ which demonstrated their attitude, professionalism and great game play.

For most youngsters this was their first experience of a large scale competition and credit must go to the team from Smithills who performed their best and demonstrated some excellent skills within badminton, well done!
