Families of Bolton conquer Rivington Pike in an ‘Artfantastic’ style!

For centuries, mankind has sought out challenges that push the boundaries of human fortitude, the desire to conquer new frontiers; Mount Everest, The Moon, and The North Pole.
Now, the families of Bolton can add a new name to that list; Rivington Pike!
On April 2nd 2012 Active Families joined forces with The ARTFANTASTIC organisation to walk up Rivington Pike with families of Bolton. Representatives from Bolton’s Community Voluntary Services (Sarah Lever), and Get Active (Rowan Ardill & Melissa Taylor) were also on hand to engage with the community and promote the good work they do with their organisations.
The walk began at around 10:30am with 45 people making up 12 families, all of whom possessed an enthusiastic demeanour despite the impending threat of watery showers! Fortunately though, the weather held up, and our families, staying dry and working up a healthy sweat, ventured up the Pike where they were able to admire the picturesque scenery only this walk could offer them.
Upon reaching the summit, our families were rewarded with a breath-taking view of Lancashire at its best! Everyone enjoyed their lunch and a photo opportunity with their loved ones and a ‘postcard-esque’ view as the backdrop!
After lunch, our families were encouraged to explore their artistic side as they were treated to a workshop with Tracy Fenton from the ARTFANTASTIC organisation. Artfantastic is an organisation who works with the community to promote positivity and emotional well-being through the medium of art.
Armed with their own personal canvas, paintbrush and paint pallet, and using the surrounding nature as their muse, our families began creating their own individual masterpieces! Spurred on to outdo one another and prove who possessed the ‘creative’ gene in the family, everyone produced magnificent pictures in their own right.
The day ended as it began, with a group photograph and smiling faces on the families of Bolton who conquered Rivington Pike in artistic fashion!
