Premier Legaue Schools Tournament - National Finals at The Reebok Stadium

On Tuesday 24th May 2011 the home of Bolton Wanderers Football Club, The Reebok Stadium hosted the national finals of the Premier League Schools Tournament.

Claypool Primary School represented Bolton Wanderers FC in the Under 11's mixed category

Established six years ago, the Premier League Schools Tournament is all about increasing participation in football. Each of the 20 Barclays Premier League clubs stages their own competition to select a school to represent in the regional finals which is split into two age groups: Under 11’s mixed and Under 13 girls. Traditionally the clubs have competed for eight places at the Finals, but for 2011 the Tournament has been expanded so that every Premier League club will have a team in both age groups at the Finals.

The players wear proper Premier League club kit, use the same dressing rooms that the players use on match-day, come down the tunnel to the Premier League anthem and are even refereed by Premier League match officials.

St Josephs RC High School & Sports College represented Bolton Wanderers FC in the Under 13's Girls category

A great day was had by all 40 schools that represented the 20 Premier League Clubs. Making ther tournament even more special was the fact that the Finals day was filmed by Disney XD’s Goalmouth.

Produced in the UK, Disney XD’s Goalmouth is a fast-paced mix of laugh out loud comedy, high energy challenges, viewer content and its key feature, the Premier League Schools Tournament. As well as the tournament, the show will also feature regular witty segments including:

·         Footbowl is the ultimate skills test that will see some of our favourite Premier League players put through their paces as they are challenged to see how quickly they can knock down giant skittles using... footballs!

·         Who Are Ya? challenges two young football fans who go head to head with a well known football player in a fun, quick-fire quiz challenge to test which of the fans knows more about a club's star player and what quirky facts they will find out about him along the way.

·         Mascot Mayhem will see eight football team mascots from across England go toe to toe in an inflatable arena, armed with Gladiator-style pugil sticks that will leave just one mascot standing after the final show and be crowned the ultimate football mascot.
