The young people were shown techniques and the equipment used to clean the horses hoofs.

Well done today it was a great team effort, keep up the good work.

Week 3

The session started with a few moans and groans about the weather but still the group were upbeat and feeling confident about riding in the pouring rain.

When the group arrived back they were split into 2 groups, the 1st group stayed outside to feed the horse, another aspect of working around the stables.

The 2nd group made their way to the classroom where the young people talked about the 15 rules of feeding. After this the group were put to the test when the groups changed around and it was their turn to feed the horses.

Well done to all the young people. It was a hard and smelly job.

Week 1

9 young people are currently participating in a 6 week basic stable management course at Matchmoor stables, the course allows the young people the chance to learn not only about horse riding but also about what is required to take care of both the stables and the horses.

During week 1 the young people listened carefully to the instructor who was showing them the tools and techniques that they would use during the grooming sessions.

Here the participants get a taste of what it is like to look after a horse by grooming, feeding and caring.

After grooming the horses the young people experienced horse riding for the first time.
