Bolton Wanderers have been involved with Premier League 4 Sport for the last two years and through this exciting partnership between Olympic sports and the Premier League, they have developed strong links with a number of schools throughout the borough.
The English National Badminton Championships comes to Bolton Arena on the 3rd to the 5th of February 2012. Aimed at young people between 11 to 16 years old, the project aims to introduce badminton to a new audience and encourage young people to actively participate in sport and develop their core skills.
A prime example of this is Smithills School in Bolton, where a regular contingent of 30 children attend coaching sessions and they have also recently competed against badminton players connected to other Premier League Football teams in the North West where they got to experience competing for the first time.
With the English National Badminton Championships taking place in Bolton Arena this year from the 3-5 February 2012, it only seemed right that we should showcase the badminton Olympic hopefuls and stars of the future with the young talent of Bolton Wanderers Premier League for Sport clubs.
“The Premier League 4 Sport programme, using the influence of the Premier League football clubs, hopes to inspire young people to take up Olympic sports” says Nicol Meredith, Premier League 4 sport co-ordinator for Bolton Wanderers. “Bolton Wanderers is proud to be part of this programme and see badminton thrive in local schools and clubs.”
