Positive Chances helped year 11 students with their G.C.S.E Maths in hope that these students would improve their grades. The students met at Bolton Wanderers study centre once a week to receive extra support from a qualified maths teacher from Ladybridge high School and A level students from Canon Slade High School that kindly volunteered their time to help.
The students worked really hard over the 7 weeks to improve their skills and learn new techniques to conquer the fast approaching exams. During the sessions the group have worked on passed papers and Maths that they have being struggling with in school.
So with help and support from the teacher and volunteers the students are now feeling more confident in achieving their grades.
On the last week the students had a bit of fun and a different way of learning maths with rocket launching were they fill the rocket with as much or as little water, then place on the rocket launcher, pump air in the rocket and see how far the rocket goes.
The students then moved on to the next challenge - the egg parachute challenge. They had to design a parachute to hold an egg safely and then drop the parachute from the highest point of the stadium. The winner is the one with the slowest parachute whose egg is protected from breaking.
Well done to everyone who took part. There were some good parachutes, just not as good as the teachers! Better luck next time.
Positive Chances would like to wish the students all the very best when taking their exams.
